	The Rigby Police Department was created by the city council in 1903. Records of this time period are extremely rare. We are proud of our long history and look to the future as professionals in public safety. The City of Rigby is home to more than 3,000 residents. Rigby is nestled between Idaho Falls (about 12 miles to the South) and Rexburg (about 12 miles to the North). Rigby still maintains the small hometown atmosphere of neighbors helping neighbors. Rigby itself was established by pioneers to this area in 1884. Rigby is also known as the birthplace of television due to Philo T. Farnsworth having envisioned in this area, his invention that would change the world forever as we know it.
